Susan Kaiser Greenland JD, develops mindful awareness curriculum for and teaches programs to children as well as classroom teachers, parents, therapists and health care professionals. In 2001, she and her husband Seth Greenland co-founded InnerKids, through which she has taught hundreds of programs for children in grades pre-K through middle school. Susan is a member of the clinical team for the Pediatric Pain Clinic at UCLA’s Mattel’s Children’s Hospital, a consultant for the MAPS in Education Program at UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center (“MARC”), Co-Investigator on the MARC research pilot studying the impact of mindfulness practice in early childhood and Collaborator on a UCSF research study looking at the impact of mindful eating on children and families. In 2007, she was a visiting professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and gave the annual Sarnat lecture in Child Psychiatry. In addition, she has presented at numerous universities and institutes including UCLA, Mattel Children’s Hospital, San Diego Children’s Hospital, University of Kansas, University of Massachusetts and Columbia University. In 2006, Susan was named a “Champion of Children” by First 5 LA. A corporate lawyer from 1985 through 2004, Susan integrates her mindfulness practice with her legal experience by teaching continuing education programs to attorneys regarding mindful awareness and the practice of law. She speaks at professional programs throughout the country and consults with various organizations regarding teaching mindful awareness in a secular manner -- and is currently writing a book for parents about mindfulness and children which will be published in 2009 by Free Press.
